2023: APC Group storms Ondo streets to celebrate Osinbajo’s declaration
Following the official declaration of vice president yemi Osinbajo to contest the 2023 presidential election , members of the Osinbajo Grassroot Organization in ondo state stormed Akure the state capital to celebrate Prof Osinbajo’s declaration.
The group converged on Akure city hall rejoicing saying the decision of the vice president to join the presidential race indicated that Nigerians would again experience good governance.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the Director General, Osinbajo Grassroot Organization in ondo state and legal practitioner, Ifeolu Fasoranti explained that though vice president Osinbajo was part of the outgoing government, he would redifine good governance as a president.
Fasoranti however asked party leaderships to allow delegates choose their preferred presidential candidate without any bias.
Fasoranti said: “ Osinbajo has been part of the cabinet but I remember that years back when we were complaining about former military president Ibrahim Babangida and we confronted chief Olu Falae, that as a finance minister, how come things were not going as expected ?
“Chief Falae said it clearly that as a member of cabinet, you are lucky if out of ten proposals to the president, one is accepted.
“Osinbajo is not the Chief executive of Nigeria as it is. He is the vice president and he will count himself privileged if few of his proposals are granted.
“So we can not say that he should take full responsibility for whatever happens in government.
“I want to assure you that by the grace of God,that by the time he becomes the president of Nigeria, everything will be normalised.
“We thank God the VP has declared his intention to contest for president. He has all qualities needed to be president. This is the first VP who had no face-off with the president.
“The Southwest is ready for Osinbajo. Those who said he would not declare can now see that the eagle has landed.
A woman leader and political stalwart in the state, Lady Agbayewa Oreoluwa, said: “We’ve been expecting him
to declare for long.
“Our children are suffering. The underprivileged, widows could not feed themselves, so we need someone who can rescue us from these situations. We see Osinbajo doing this when he gets there.”, she assured.
Also speaking, another member of the group, Mr Jamiu Maito said Prof. Osinbajo’s experience as a vice president would count if elected to pilot the affairs of the country as he was already aware of the challenges facing the country.
