
2023: Crisis rocks Apoi APC as Akeredolu’s aides, others adopt Toyin Allen for Assembly
Ahead of the 2023 elections, the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC in the Apoi axis of Ese-Odo Local Government of ondo state appears to be in tension over the alleged imposition of one Primate Toyin Allen as the sole candidate of the party for the State Assembly election.
Primate Allen was reportedly adopted by the leadership of the APC in Apoi led by the Special Adviser to Governor Akeredolu on Gender, Mrs Olamide Falana who nominated Allen with the secondment coming from Barrister Rufus Omotayo, the local government secretary of the APC in Ese-Odo.
Others who attended the meeting hosted by the immediate past Nigerian Ambassador to Togo, Sola Iji, include full time commissioner in the local government service commission, Ife Iji, Niyi Netufo, Tayo Kupoluyi(local government vice chairman of APC), Chief Temidire Olowoparija, Jimi Kufo, Chief Dapo Jonathan and pastime board member of SUBEB, Mrs Lanre Oyelade.
While Mrs Falana nominated Allen and seconded by Rufus Omotayo, Jimi Kufo nominated Andrew Elumaro and was seconded by Ife Iji.
It was gathered that while Ife Iji seconded a different nominee alongside Niyi Netufo Falana, Tayo Kupoluyi and Rufus Omotayo voted for Allen while Timidire Olowoparija and Oladapo Jonathan voted for Oladele Owoate. Only Jimi Kufo voted for Andrew Elumaro.
The leaders who were however protesting the outcome of the meeting which adopted Allen at Ambassador Iji’s Igbobini residence are Temidire Olowoparija, Jimi Kufo, Hon. Akin Sowore, Festus Omolaja, Chief Raphael Abejoye, Oladapo Jonathan, Hon. Pius Ikusedun, Pastor James Ebiminu, Noah Weke and Akin Tolo.
