Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Idanre Local Government Area of Ondo State has alleged House of Representatives member, Tajudeen Adefisoye, representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, of parading fake soldiers and possessing army uniforms, arms and ammunition.

This was contained in a statement by the PDP on Tuesday following an attack on members of the party allegedly by the All Progressives Congress’ federal lawmaker and some fake soldiers on Monday evening in Idanre.

The party alleged that the federal lawmaker has a mobile armoury which he moved about and made use of at any point in time.

For clarity, the party called on the Commander of 32 Artillery Brigade, Akure to investigate the men in Army uniform who attacked and destroyed shops in Idanre on Monday evening.

But the federal lawmaker has denied the allegations, saying he didn’t bring soldiers to the town.

Rather, he alleged that it was the PDP candidate for House of Representatives, Festus Akingbaso with his supporters that attacked him.

He said: “I didn’t bring soldiers to Idanre. It was the candidate of PDP for House of Representatives, Festus Akingbaso, and his supporters that attacked me.

“They destroyed my cars and the windscreen of my car was pierced by bullet.”

Idanre town was under siege on Monday evening as some men in Nigeria Army uniform’s stormed the town and allegedly destroyed some shops where Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members were holding meeting.

Sources revealed that crisis began to brew in the town on Saturday when House of Representatives member, Tajudeen Adefisoye, representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, with his supporters, allegedly shot into the air while passing by the venue of the PDP meeting on their way back from the mega rally of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Akure, the state capital.

Accordibg a statement by Director, Media & Publicity, PDP, Idanre Local Government, Mr. Fasoranti Adeyemi, PDP alleged that the APC thugs on instruction of Adefisoye began to attack the PDP members unprovoked and many people were injured in the process while the shop was destroyed.

It was also alleged that when the federal lawmaker realised that PDP members had gone to report the matter in Police Station, he decided to change the narrative on Monday.

He was said to have gone to the same venue with some thugs who began to shoot sporadically.

But when there was no reprisal from PDP, he allegedly decided to bring some men in Nigeria Army’s uniform to the town to unleash further terror.

In a separate statement by PDP, on Tuesday, a copy of which was obtained by newsmen, the party alleged that some men in Nigeria Army’s uniform in two Sports Utility Vehicles (SUV) stormed the town and began to attack the people.

The statement reads in parts: “Serving Member of the House of Representatives and APC candidate of Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye (Small Alhaji) this evening brought 2 loaded Hilux vehicle with some men in army uniform to inflict more pains on his constituents.

“The ‘military’ action started around 5:45pm and lasted till 7:05pm saw them destroying Oyin Ni Temi Shop, the scene of yesterday incident, where our MHA candidate, Hon. Aderemi Oyewole Gulder was attacked, and later moved to our MHA candidate’s house, break in unlawfully and ransacked the whole house without finding any incriminating evidence.

“No amount of threats, intimidation and harassment will stop Idanre/Ifedore from voting PDP candidates in the forthcoming February/March 2023 elections from winning.

“We call on the commander 32 Artillery Brigade to investigate these men in Army uniform that perpetrated the destruction.

“Hon. Tajudeen Adefisoye who brought them should be interrogated to explain where he got the soldiers from.

“No doubt, the reps member has a mobile armoury which houses arms and ammunition of high calibre and camouflage of Nigeria Army.

“We suspect that it’s from the acquired Army uniforms and arms that he shared among his thugs who unleashed terror on our town.

“Though we know he’s the Vice Chairman, House Committee On Army, but he’s not expected to use the office to illegally acquire Army uniform and firearms.

“Many people were injured during that attack on our members and shops in Idanre.”
