
NURTW Crisis: Police deploy officers to motor Parks after clash in Ondo
The ondo state police command has deployed its men to major motor Parks in Akure,the ondo state capital to forestall breakdown of law and order following attacks by suspected hoodlums on Tuesday.
Six members of the NURTW were injured in the clash that occurred around 3pm yesterday are now receiving medical treatment at undisclosed Hospital.
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu had suspended the activities of NURTW in the state while inaugurating a 21 member State Motor Parks Management Committee led by the former state chairman of the union, Jacob Adebo.
Our correspondent who monitored the development reports that armed police officers have manned all motor Parks while all vehicles have been evacuated from the parks.
Passengers traveling outside the state capital were also seen boarding commercial vehicles on roadsides around the motor Parks.
In a reaction, the police public relations officer, PPRO, Mrs Funmi Odunlami confirmed the attacks and the deployment of police officers to the parks.
She said: “After the swearing in of Mr Jacob Adebo popularly known as Idajo yesterday by the state government, some of his men went to some parks in Akure metro to take over those parks and they met a kind of resistance from those drivers.
We have however deployed police officers to those areas and right now as I speak to you,we have our policemen stationed in different parks just to ensure that there is peace.”
The PPRO however said no arrest had been made so far after the incident.
