One of the oldest secondary schools in Idanre, Idanre local government area of Ondo state, Idanre High School is celebrating 45 years of its founding in grand fashion.
The school was founded in October 25th 1977, during the era of Ita David Ikpeme as the first governor of the state, a year after ondo state was created from the old western region of Nigeria.
To celebrate the anniversary, the management, of the school, parents and students have set aside a series of activities and programmes.
In a statement made available to our correspondent, the principal of Idanre High School, Mrs Folasade Abiodun said, “We are rejoicing in the Lord for the Grace to Celebrate the 45th anniversary of Idanre High School, which is going to be the first of its kind in Idanre Land.
“We have lined up some activities to mark the day, which include a walk in for our new students and paying homage to the three traditional rulers in Idanre Land, Alade ,Atosin and Odo–ode starting from the founder’s day, Tuesday, 25th October, 2022.
“Our students will also embark on environmental sanitation which will be graced by honorable commissioner for Environment, Mr Sunday Akinwalere and other top government officials.”
The Award winning Principal further said, “Other activities lined up to celebrate the school include a Novelty March between Ebun – Ogunyimika VS St. Joseph and Quiz competition between Methodist, Olofin, Best spring and Ajidax college on Wed 26th Oct 2022.
“On the third day which is Thursday 27th Oct 2022, there will be Presentation of Awards and Cultural display competition among; Baptist High school, CAC Grammar school and Ilemobola Girls Grammar school.
“Some of our teachers, students and other non teaching staff will be recognized and celebrated with awards for being outstanding in the discharge of their duties.
On the last day, which is Fri 28th Oct 2022, there will be Thanksgiving service inside the school Hall. We want to urge everyone to join us in the celebration.” She said.
