Ondo: OGSA Alumni Association restates commitment to restoring lost Glory

The National Executive Council of Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure, Alumni Association has restated their commitment towards bringing back the glory of their alma mater.

At the Extra Ordinary meeting of the National Executive Council of the Alumni Association and the dedication of the renovated Alumni Secretariat in Akure, the newly inaugurated 9th Executive Council of the association stated their determination to work towards rebuilding the school.

The National President of the Association, Dr. Adeniyi Ijogun, said the new Executive came to bear due to their pedigree and integrity.

He said the Executive members took a bold step after their inauguration to lead by example by contributing and ensuring the completion of the abandoned Alumni Secretariat to become a state of the art, which has now been dedicated in less than two months.

He said this has brought a lot of confidence on the Executive.

According to him, the new Executive has decided to set up a Master Plan Development Committee, so as to help design the template towards transforming the school, because the present level of infrastructural decadence of the school has made learning difficult for the students and teachers on ground.

Dr. Ijogun stated that the school belongs to the best, and it is “The Only School”, and as its Seventieth Anniversary approaches, the association wishes to showcase what the school is made of, being “The Only School”.

He therefore called on Alumni all over the world to join hands towards bringing back the glory of the school.

He said the present Executive is an Executive is determined to achieve positive results and their primary aim is to give back to the school where they all started from, and to have an institution that all will be proud of.

Expressing his optimism, Dr. Ijogun said the new Executive is working to bring everybody back to the fold, as the school belongs to everyone and all must collectively join hands together to ensure the school is taken to the envious position it rightly belongs among the comity of schools globally.

Also, the Assistant General Secretary of the Association, Mr. Aderemi Edwards-Adebiyi said the new Executive is a proactive and vibrant one that is ready to proffer positive changes.

He said in less thank three months, they have achieved a lot and have taken some far reaching decisions that will bring positive changes on the architecture of the school.

Edwards-Adebiyi explained that the focus of the current Executive is to fill the infrastructural gap, build human capacity and to bring back the glory of the school.

He said several years of decayed and neglect by government has made the fortune of the school has nosedive.

The Lagos branch Chairman of the Alumni Association, Mr. Niyi Ojo FCA,  said the Executive has designed programmes and projects that will have positive impacts on the school and the students.

He said the association is ready to work towards rebuilding and help produce outstanding students that will make the nation’s proud.

In his words, the current Principal of Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure, Mr. Ogunleye Okeowo applauded the leadership of the Alumni Association led by Dr. Niyi Ijogun.

He said what is seeing today is as a result of the determination of the Executive to help rebuild the school.

According to him, the Alumni National Secretariat has been abandoned for over Eighteen years and in less than two months they completed and fully equipped the building, and commended the National President for yielding positively to the needs of the school and students since assumption of office.

He said so far, the Almuni Executive has embarked on projects that will benefit the students and teachers, and therefore appealed to all Old Students of the school join hands with the new Executive to help move the school forward.
