Some aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress in Akure North and South Federal Constituency have vowed to work only for the victory of the presidential candidate of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, in the forthcoming general elections.

The members, who have remained implacable since the conduct of the party primaries last year, were said to have taken a decision to either support opposition candidates or fold their arms.

The development has reportedly caused fear among the APC standard bearers in the federal constituency.

NIGERIAN NEWSNOSE learnt that some of the candidates expressed their fear on Thursday at a meeting held at the Ijapo residence of the Director General of the party’s campaign council in the federal constituency, Sunday Falae.

The Ondo Central Senatorial flag bearer of the party, Niyi Adegbonmire, lamented that some members had decided not to campaign or vote for the APC candidates except Tinubu.

Adegbonmire cautioned the aggrieved members against carrying out their plan which he said would not be in the general interest of the ruling party.

He said: “For Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to turn the country around if elected as he has promised during his campaign, he needs to have majority members in the Legislature.

“There is nothing to share in zero. Our aggrieved members should forgive those who have hurt them for the sake of the party and support all its candidates to achieve success.”

The APC House of Representatives candidate in the federal constituency, Prince Abiodun Derin Adesida, said everything must be done to ensure that members of the party become one family.

Adesida identified groupings as a serious problem in the party, advising members to place more emphasis on the interest of the party than group interests.

The APC chairman in Ondo Central, Festus Aregbesola, said the party should reach out to Senator Tayo Alasoadura and Mayokun Lawson-Alade, the lawmaker representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, with a view to pacifying their camp.
